Abstract

Indonesia is not only faced with the problem of food availability, but also the public's access to food due to high food prices and scarcity of food ingredients. One-third of the food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted between the harvest and consumption process, known as food loss and food waste. One of the main challenges in addressing the problem of food waste is awareness of the importance of reducing food waste. As a result, a lot of food is wasted as waste. This study aims to analyze efforts to handle/reduce food waste in the form of food ingredients (food loss) and ready-to-eat food (food waste). The SLR method in this study uses the SALSA (Search, Appraisal, Synthesis, and Analysis) framework/protocol. SLR data is collected and analyzed based on international perspectives that have been carried out by various countries in the world in handling/preventing food waste. The research results show that there are various successful efforts carried out in various countries in handling/reducing food loss and food waste, including support from government regulations, educational campaigns such as "Love Food - Hate Waste", the implementation of Good Handling Practice (GHP) to maintain the freshness of ingredients, and volume-based waste management policies to encourage individual responsibility in reducing food waste.
